I am absolutely delighted to introduce Sanctuary's patron, Cameron Stout. You may know of Cameron as the winner of Channel 4's 'Big Brother' competition in 2003. He writes regularly for The Sunday Post and the Aberdeen Evening Express and is often to be found starring in panto, up until now in Aberdeen, but this year you'll be able to catch up with him at the Pavilion Theatre in Glasgow. This Christmas you might even find him behind the counter in a certain city centre café......! Here is a message from the man himself:
"From time to time, some of us need somewhere 'else' to go - somewhere away from it all, somewhere there's a change of scenery, somewhere that there might be a distraction from the daily grind. Many of us are fortunate to have a choice of places like that - it might be round a friend's house, at the gym or even away on holiday - but for a lot of people there isn't really a "somewhere else" they can go, even for a chat, a wee cuppa or a bite to eat. That's why I think "Sanctuary" is such a worthwhile idea. Providing a contemporary and welcoming atmosphere amongst the hustle and bustle of one of Glasgow's main thoroughfares, the premises and staff hope not only to be an alternative to what's already on offer in the city, but also to be that "somewhere else" that people need to go; that listening ear; that sanctuary.
There are a few ways in which we can help to support the project. Prayer and finance are key to its success. Dropping in from time to time as a customer is a great way to help - and should be a treat too! Sanctuary is needed - let's help to get it working." Cameron Stout
